Sushi and Rain


I was searching for good school lunches the other day when I came across this Candy Sushi recipe by Rachel Ray
Thought I'd try it. DS 1 and 2 helped me. It was really easy and fun. Here are our results.









It also rained today. This doesn't happen very often here. This is the boys having fun in the rain.

Edutainment

Edutainment- educational and entertaining shows. I have a list of shows that I call edutainment. I don't feel guilty when my children are watching edutainment. This is opposed to the guilt I feel when my children watch most anything on TV for too long. I was talking with a friend about this list and she suggested that I put them here for others to discover. So, I'm going to make an Edutainment section to the right of my page with links to some of my, and my children's favorites. Andy's Airplanes is one that I haven't seen yet but it looks good and I will be trying it out as a b-day gift for my 6 yo at the end of the summer. Happy kid raising.

Things have been happening around here.

I Read The Host by . There is a discussion about the book on my friend's blog.
We had a cement patio and walkway put in. Loved the guy that did it. He was great to work with and aloud me to change my mind about three different times. He eventually told me that he wanted to do what I wanted him to do but that after he ordered the cement I couldn't change my mind anymore. I liked him for that.
We are in the process of having a fence put in so that my yard will be fully fenced. This is exciting. We have been telling the kids that we will start to look for a dog that will fit our family when the fence is done. So.. you guessed it. I'm in the market for a dog. I'm thinking about Yellow Lab-ish, definitely a mutt of some sort, kid friendly, indoor/outdoor, preferably shorter hair. I saw the cutest dog ever about 18 months ago. The mom was an Alaskan Malamute and the dad was a Yellow Lab and I would have gotten it right then and there if I could have found the sibling of the one I saw.
I have three parts of my yard left to do. The park strip (I think I will put in a few trees and flag stone), the side of the driveway(sprinklers and grass), and flower beds ( sprinklers, good soil, and new plants that like the shade) on the side of the house that the cement just got put in. This means a lot of manual labor on my part for a while. Hopefully I can get them done before the weeds come back.
I'm very excited to have my yard done and just be able to maintain it. I love seeing the plants grow and give variety.
